There are 8 phases of the moon, Full, Waxing Gibbous, First Quarter, Waxing Crescent, New, Waning Crescent, Last Quarter and Waning Gibbous.
The moon can change its phase at any point of the day, so here at Cassiopi we find the phase of the moon on the night of your chosen special date to determine your moon phase.
